Biography
When Simon and Kelly Keyes suddenly found themselves parents in 1991, the couple discovered it to be the perfect example of a wonderful disaster. The Keyes were as ordinary as eggs at breakfast; Simon owned a small, but respectable pub in Sutton, while Kelly taught History at a local preparatory school. The same claim to commonplace could not be made of little Alice Mona Keyes, who seemed to fail at normalcy from the age of three onwards. Where the neighborhood toddlers indulged in kiddy cartoons, choked on small toys, stuck paperclips in electrical sockets, and plotted ways to break into the biscuit boxes like proper tykes, Alice prefered jigsawpuzzles, shunned dolls for her rubix cube, taught herself to read, and began to routinely dissasemble the toaster. Shortly after Alice's seventh birthday, Simon and Kelly had another child, as normal as normal could be, perhaps as a way to distract themselves from their firstborn. Alice displayed little interest in her sibling after discovering this fact, with the exception of her infant years, when Mary's soft spot made an excellent tee for mini-golfing in the yard.
Alice began to develop an unusual veiw of the world at a very young age. Everything had a pattern--a sequence--and everything seemed to be one giant puzzle. Though it took Alice more time to come to grasp with basic mathematics than most children(She saw mathematics as a particularly tricky pattern, and therefore decided to take her time with it), by age thirteen, she had begun to express extreme boredom with her school's academic cirriculum. There were always new puzzles, new sequences, but they never stayed new. Her grades were just enough abouve average to keep her in good standing with her teachers--despite having accidentally decimated three-quarters of the chemistry lab while trying to manufacture a mutant marmalade militia--she displayed the behaviours of a consummate slacker; bored, disinterested, and willfully narcoleptic. Her enthusiasm for reading diminished somewhat over the years as she discovered she prefered a hands-on approach to learning, as opposed to written or verbal instruction. Try as she might to listen to lectures, a vast majority of her school days were spent sleeping or doing crosswords in the back of class(A curious contradiction to her slight aversion to text.). It was in this manner that Alice muddled through her youth, her interests and obsessions rapidly changing from chemistry to archeology, astronomy to marine science, and so on. Some persuits were more sucessfull than others(While she trained a clownfish to ring a bell, she could never get marmalade even remotely interested in paramilitary service.) No appliance was safe from her tool kit, no computer went unmolested, and the occasional stack of books was read through before being discarded, but Alice always eventually found herself bored, each task less of a challenge than the last, each puzzle too similar to the last. No matter what she put her hands to, it was either already familiar, or had been thoroughly studied by another; therefore exstinguishing the novelty of the persuit--and her enthusiasm along with it. It was this constant thwarting that first turned Alice's attentions towards space, the thought of an endless expanse of undiscovered places, peoples, and patterns quickly becoming a comforting one. Alice completed her A-Levels at age sixteen, bid her parents and sister(Who, despite having been a golf-tee as a baby, turned out just as delightfully mediocre as anyone could have possibly imagined) a fond--if somewhat awkward--farewell, and struck out for horizions less dull.
Despite several discouraging letters of caution having been sent to Universities throughout England, Alice secured a scholarship to the University of Nottingham, and enlisted in their Astrophysics program. Discovering that this was getting her no closer to things undiscovered than wiring her roomate's car to honk 'God Save the Queen', she moved onto the University of Glasgow's Aerospace Engineering program. It was there that she caught the attention of the Torchwood Institute. What exactly she did to attract such attention is unknown, though the most popular theory involves the occasion on which she once gutted two game consoles, a blender, Mac Book, and car stero in order to create a delta-wave augmentor. Alice maintains that this was for the sole purpose of this act was to put the "noisy half" of the campus to sleep so she could watch East Enders in peace.
Torchwood Four
Alice began a year-long "internship" with Torchwood Four in 2011, at age twenty. The first sixth months were mostly comprised of training and water-testing, in which agents and supervisors keep new recruits under constant survelliance. It takes more than a few days worth of breifings and lessons to insure a new recruit's brain or composure won't start dribbling out their ears when introduced to alien technology, and the Torchwood Four staff wasn't about to take any chances, no matter how much promise a potential recruit shows(Genuises aren't, after all, too terribly hard to come by if one knows where to look.). Once the initial shock wore off, Alice took to the new technology in a manner that did not entirely prove that the phrase 'kid in a candy shop' should be tossed into the 'antiquated' and 'unnecessary' categories just yet. Her renewed zeal, and desire to dissect, study, and improve anything and everything made the following six months the happiest time Alice could ever remember. She had gone from a world that had begun to look bleak around the edges to basements upon vaults of fresh, untouched puzzles for her to work out--and knowing how many security checks and unmarked levels the building had, she knew she hadn't even seen a tenth of it. What she was allowed to tinker with typically ran along the lines of technology that was being adapted for field use, such as advanced comlinks, restraints, small vehicles, and survival equipment.
Once the year was out, Alice was finally made an official member of Torchwood Four. Her field assignments were few at first, and on the whole much less dangerous fare than long-term Torchwood agents, as part of a strategy to ease younger recruits into their roles, rather than chucking them in head-first and risking having their skulls exploded, imploded, shrunk, vaporized, or/and cracked their first week on the job. Alice felt no particular loss or argument, as she prefered to spend her days in the labs, tinkering with whatever was put infront of her(Which, much to the safety and benefit of all, has not involved anything resembling jellied fruit spreads.). Unfortunately, despite her year-long presence as an 'intern', a new recruit was still a new recruit, and with that came the many tedious office tasks being dumped upon her at any moment. Such chores included delivering files, xeroxing, shredding, and the extremely important late-night coffee runs. Because, despite being a vital, lucrative, powerful, and well-funded organization geared towards aiding humanity in the race for surival; noone can afford to replace the coffee machines on the odd-numbered floors that routinely malfunction.

Relationships
Torchwood Three
ianto jones| The first person Alice encountered upon arriving in Cardiff. She continues to feel a bit guilty for having called him crazy. She has the sneaking suspicion that he knows much more about most things than he's wont to let on. She is (somewhat) secretly insulted that her efforts to find him during his kidnapping went unappreciated, and have subsequently resulted in her dismissal.
gwen cooper| The second member of Torchwood Three Alice has come across. She thinks Gwen to be the honest, friendly sort.
jack harkness| Alice no longer has the faintest inkling what she thinks of Jack, and doubts she ever will. She doesn't trust him farther than she could throw him.
adric| Adric is one of the few people Alice considers a friend(Going so far as to refer to him as her best mate.), and she cares for him greatly. She respects him as a fellow researcher, and is impressed by his mathematical skills. She's also fascinated by just how human he appears to be, and his origins. She sometimes affectionately addresses him as 'Short Stuff'. Adric is currently the only member of Torchwood Three Alice has maintained ties with.
owen harper| Most of Alice's thoughts concerning Owen involve rigging pianos to fall on his head. She has also found hitting him to be incrediably theraputic.
martha jones| Alice has anything but a favourable opinion of her. She thinks she is petty, short-sighted, and letting her feelings get the better of her(Not that, after punching Owen, she has much of an argument.); but can't help but be relieved she has returned.
toshiko sato| Alice is impressed by Tosh's computer skills, technological prowess, and work ethic. Unfortunately, since discovering her involvement in the events that ultimately lead to Martha's resignment, Alice can't help but be frustrated by her.
rose tyler| The very thought of Rose tends to leave Alice exasperated. As such, she avoids thinking about or interacting with her as much as possible.
Others
claude| Originally, Alice found him infuriating, being elusive one minute and whispering insults in her ear the next, but has grown fond and somewhat protective of him. Although he is a self-confessed 'Wanted Man', Alice seldom pries about his past, and seems to trust him. She considers him a friend, even though she may never admit it to his face.
the tenth doctor| While she finds the Doctor inherently fascinating, Alice distrusts him on principle, and takes great strides to avoid liking, or coming into furhter contact with him. She does, however, openly admit that her prejudice is mostly a direct result of the files she has read on him at Torchwood Four, and the fact that developing animosity(Or at least wariness) towards the Doctor was part of her training.
gene hunt| She finds Gene to be nigh insufferable, but openly admits that he's handy in a crisis.
seamus harper| Alice can't help liking Seamus, and feels a great sense of comraderie where he's concerned. She's extremely impressed by his capabilities and technology, and just a teensy bit envious of all the fantastic equipment he must have had access to in the 52nd century. She hopes to learn as much from Seamus as possible, while teaching him more about contemporary Earth. Now that Seamus is in London, she misses him immensely.
peter petrelli| Alice isn't entirely sure how she came to trust Peter so much so quickly, but the two have become fast friends. She is thoroughly intruiged by his abilities. His penchant for physical contact sometimes startles her, and can leave her a little awkward or baffled. He is the only person, besides Adric, to which she has spoken about herself and her life at any real length. Also, like Claude and Nathan, Alice is protective of Peter, and has promised to help protect all three of them from the Company. Peter is also in posession of what Alice likes to call her Emergency Retcon Plan; a collection of information to be used to restore her memories should they ever be wiped.
the mcmanus twins| Alice despises the McManus twins. However, she sees the same fear and desperation in them that she feels herself, and can't bring herself to abandon or ignore them completely.
hrothbert “bob” of bainbridge| A little part of Alice really enjoys Bob's dry wit and snarkery. Unfortunately, the rest of her is absolutely terrified of him.
tobias| TBA
nathan petrelli| Whenever Nathan is within sight, Hail to the Cheif begins to play in Alice's head, which is this terribly distracting. She has found he has an impressive way with small talk, and a potentially unhealthy stubborn streak when it comes to Peter. She has lately become more and more suspicious of his claim to being a normal person, especially with several reports of a flying man near and around London.
crowley| Extremely wary, but equally as fascinated by Crowely, Alice harbors mixed feelings towards the demon. The only things she's sure of where he is concerned is that owing him a favour gave her a very bad feeling, and she's none too eager to hand over the matter compressor she built to square her debt.
ezra| Ezra unsettles Alice considerably less than Crowley, though at this junction she isn't entirely sure which spectrum of the spiritual scale he resides in. She has also come to the conclusion that he is English, intelligent, and gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.
sam witwicky and bumblebee| Alice finds Sam to be consummately normal, and although a decent kid, not particularly interesting. Bumblebee is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen.
the ninth doctor| TBA
