Name: Peter Petrelli (in-character)
Fandom: Heroes
Race: Human (next step up on the evolutionary scale)
Birthplace: New York City, New York, America
Age: 26
Occupation: hospice nurse, hero
Family: Arthur "Dallas" Petrelli (father, deceased), Angela Petrelli (mother, living in New York), Nathan Petrelli (older brother, living in New York), Claire Bennet (niece, currently in Cardiff), Simon Petrelli (nephew, living in New York), Montgomery Petrelli (nephew, living in New York), Heidi Petrelli (sister-in-law, living in New York).
Brief history: Peter Petrelli is the second son of Arthur "Dallas" Petrelli and Angela Petrelli. Born and raised in New York City, Peter became a hospice nurse, choosing a more humble and caring profession over his older brother Nathan's political ambitions. Six months ago, Peter began to have incredible dreams - dreams of flying. He also dreamed he saw his brother in a car accident, only to wake up and learn that the events he dreamed had actually occurred. As his dreams of flight became more intense, Peter confided in Nathan that he believed he could fly. Nathan dismissed it - however, that evening, Peter tried to fly by jumping off a roof - only to have Nathan fly to his rescue. They flew together briefly before Peter lost consciousness.
Shortly after, Peter found himself entwined in destiny. After a visit from a time traveler named Hiro Nakamura, Peter was urged to "save the cheerleader, save the world." As he tried to unlock the mystery of this message, Peter learned about his own powers. He was a mimic, able to replicate the extraordinary powers of others he came into contact with. He also learned about a killer calling himself Sylar, another superpowered human who was using his abilities to murder and absorb the powers of others.
Fate intervened. Peter was able to save the cheerleader, a girl named Claire Bennet with advanced healing abilities. During the confrontation, he also met her would-be killer, Sylar, and Peter acquired both Claire's healing power as well as Sylar's telekinesis. As a side effect from being in contact with a large number of powered individuals at once, Peter's body couldn't cope, sending him into a two-week long coma. He woke after having a vision of himself exploding, and was determined to stop it from happening.
Peter returned to New York City, but was unable to stop his vision from coming true. He met several more powered individuals, including a man named Ted Sprague whose ability with radioactive manipulation is exactly what Peter foresaw as the catalyst for his explosion. After another confrontation with Sylar, Peter loses control of this ability. As the power built up, Peter was unable to stop it. Just as Peter was certain he would explode, and destroy all of New York City in the blast, his brother Nathan flew in, picked up Peter, and flew into the atmosphere with him, just before Peter exploded.
In-Depth Biography
Powers and Abilities:
Peter is a mimic, able to recall and retain the powers of others around him. His DNA re-sequences itself to mimic the abilities of those around him. This is not a conscious process. Whenever he is within the vicinity of someone with an ability his body automatically duplicates it. Originally, once this person moved out of range Peter would no longer be able to mimic their power, but with the help of Claude he was able to learn how to indefinitely maintain abilities, summoning them at will.
| Ability |
Benefactor |
Notes |
| Flight |
Nathan Petrelli |
Originally believed this power to be his own. Can fly at super-sonic speeds, or hover in the air. |
| Precognition |
Isaac Mendez |
While Isaac was originally only able to use this power while on heroin, Peter has no such limitation. Precognition limited to painting and drawing images of future events. |
| Manipulation of Time/Space |
Hiro Nakamura |
Peter has managed to use this ability to teleport successfully, but his lack of proper control was causing him to jump through time as well as space. The Doctor has agreed to train him properly to use it. |
| Cellular Regeneration |
Claire Bennet |
This ability is automatic and requires no effort on Peter's part. He can recover from any wound, though obstructions to his brain must be removed before he can regenerate. He can even regrow limbs that have been severed, though the cells of the severed body part die. |
| Telekinesis |
Sylar |
Capable of moving or stopping objects without touching them. This is by far Peter's strongest ability. He can use this power to manipulate many objects at once, to enhance his physical strength, or to gain an extrasensory perception of objects around him, without having to see them. |
| Telepathy |
Matt Parkman |
Not consistently active, though Peter will "overhear" thoughts occasionally. Close proximity to another telepath can (and likely will) cause a ricochet effect, giving both acute headaches. He can send and receive thoughts and images. |
| Invisibility |
Claude Rains |
Peter can extend this ability to another person or object he is holding. It also permits him to see others with this ability (ie - Claude). |
| Radiation Control |
Ted Sprague |
Peter is slowly gaining control over this ability. If he is overstressed, he can lose control completely and cause a nuclear explosion. With practice, he will be able to generate an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) capable of shorting out all power and electricity within range. Currently, he has learned that he can re-absorb the radioavtive energy, but the results on his own body are somewhat harsh. |
| Superhuman Strength |
Niki Sanders |
Peter does not currently have much experience with this ability. He can channel the strength, but does not know the limitations of it. |
| Phasing |
DL Hawkins |
Peter can use this ability to walk through walls and other solid objects. When he is in a phased state, objects directed at him will pass through. |
| Electricity Manipulation |
Elle Bishop |
Can generate and 'throw' lightning bolts. This ability does not grant immunity to electricity. Water is a vulnerability. |
| Enhanced hearing |
Sylar |
Extremely sensitive hearing. Sharp or shrill sounds may be painful for a while, until the ability settles. |
| Operational Intuition |
Sylar |
Can 'see' how things operate. Understanding of the mechanics, physics, or biology behind the function is not necessary (though helpful). Applies to mechanical and biological processes, though the applicable hardware needs to be observed. Things that are broken (or functioning improperly) give off a sense of wrongness, but without cause until properly viewed. |
| Molecular Acceleration |
Montgomery Petrelli |
Propell his body and things he is touching to move faster than the speed of light, becoming pure energy. |
Limitations:
When Peter first absorbs an ability it may take him several minutes to gain control of that ability. This is sometimes dangerous, as when he absorbed Ted Sprague's radiation manipulation power, and it became immediately active. Since his latest coma, his body has adjusted to permit him to use more than one ability at a time, three at most. After absorbing too many abilities, Peter's body must shut down to reset his DNA and integrate the new changes. The result of this places Peter in a comatose state, for up to two weeks.
Game History:
Following the events of the Heroes season 1 finale, Peter saved his brother Nathan, and was taken captive by agents of the Company. In exchange for the chance to heal Nathan, Peter promised to remain with the Company and submit to whatever tests they wished to undertake. After ten months of various kinds of testing and torture, Peter finally escaped with the assistance of Mohinder Suresh. As they fled, Peter was pursued and intercepted by the Haitian. The Haitian began to erase Peter's memory, but Peter teleported, desperate. It was likely that the Rift played a role in helping the teleport , as Peter emerged on the Plass, with no knowledge of the past year of his life.

Searching for information, Peter finds the Tourist Information Centre, and
Alice Keyes. After some unexpected mind-reading, she
takes him out to a pancake lunch, where they bond, share some information, and give one another headaches. Alice gives him some cash and the name of a hotel, and Peter promises to pay her back.
-
-
As Peter is leaving the Information Centre,
Claude appears (with
some friends), gives Peter an unexpected hug and sloppy kiss, and right hook to the face. They
step outside to talk about old times.
-
Walking along the Plass, Peter
finds an old skull, which holds a ghost calling himself Hrothbert of Bainbridge. Rather than leave the skull around for anyone to pick up, Peter agrees to take "Bob" to his hotel and let him watch TV.
-
The next day, Peter
returns to the Information Centre and meets up with Ianto Jones and Martha Jones (no relation). While he cannot work for Torchwood (Jack's orders), they can find him a job in one of the local hospitals. They can also get his credentials and vital information, bank accounts, driver's license, and all that jazz for him.
-
A few nights later, before starting his new job, Peter flies up to the roof of a building to
practice his radioactive ability. The flares catch the attention of one
Alice Keyes, who Peter is glad to see. He flies off the roof with her to the City Hall to talk about flying, genetics, and Weevils. He flies her back to her hotel the next morning, then flies home.
-
-
Later that same day, while Peter is
walking home from work, Claude decides to give him an impromptu training lesson. Peter demonstrates a sixth-sense awareness related to his telepathy, is able to use telekinesis and flight simultaneously (albeit, shakily), and manipulate several items at once with only telekinesis. Peter heads home after with a far greater sense of control over his abilities.
-
The very next day, Peter is
enjoying his day off when he sees a
hawk tumble out of the sky. Trying to help, he is startled and intrigued when the hawk speaks into his mind, and, a moment later, morphs into a teenager. Peter buys Tobias something to eat, and invites the boy to stay with him, which Tobias accepts.

-
Peter, Tobias, Adric, and Alice all met for a
breakfast of pancakes and friends.
-
Meanwhile, Peter attempts to persuade Tobias to try going
back to school.
-
-
-
Finally, at long last, Peter
receives a phone call from his brother, Nathan. Strained conversation ensues, and Nathan promises to fly out to Cardiff to see Peter.
-
Nathan finally
arrived, and met Tobias. The three got along quite well.
-
Peter had already
set up arrangements to meet Alice the next day, so...
-
The Petrelli brothers
walked to Cathays Park to find her. During a rather heated discussion about reporters and the latest slander hitting Nathan, Peter grew furious, and his hands began to glow uncontrollably. Nathan took hold of his hands to calm him, forcing Peter to reabsorb the energy rather than flare it off. The tidal wave of power knocked him out briefly, and he woke up in pain, managing to somehow teleport himself, Nathan, and Alice back to his hotel room. Nathan's hands were burned with radiation, so Peter called his friend the healer, Ezra, who asked no questions, but was the target of many for his uncanny abilities. Peter also shared a semi-awkward hug with Alice, and tried asking her out to dinner, only to be turned down.
-
Peter later found Ezra at the hospital once more and
learned the truth about him: Ezra was really an angel by the name of Aziraphale.
-
While out looking for Tobias, Peter
stumbled across a WWII fighter pilot named Captain Jack Harkness.
-
-
-
The next day, Peter decided to
test his teleporting abilities. He unknowingly was also jumping through time, not just space, and received a hearty smack for it from
The Doctor. The Doctor took him back to his proper time and location (November 12, 2007, in Cardiff, Wales) and told Peter to look for him the following day to get some proper instruction on not mucking about with time.
-
Tobias returned that evening, and he and Peter spoke for a while about feeling like family.
-
The next day, Peter met with the Doctor at the arranged time.
The Doctor agreed to train Peter, giving him a psychic paper card wallet, and a meditative session to focus his emotions and his abilities.
-
On Thanksgiving Day,
Alice surprised Peter with a Thanksgiving Lunch (plus some) at work. He told her he would try to get her home with his time-travel abilities. Peter briefly regained some of his lost memories, Alice gave him her Emergency Retcon Plan to find and follow, should she ever be retconned. She also prompted him to use his precognitive ability to draw a sketch.

-
-
The next morning, he
spoke with Rachel, and gave her some money for clothes shopping.
-
-
When Nathan
surprised him by coming to visit, the brothers revealed they were distressed by the memories they had lost. Aziraphale came to help them, and Peter learned the truth about his ten-month stay under the Company's control, along with the various tests and experiments performed on him.
-
Still rattled by this information, Peter has a
fight with Tobias, then heads out for a walk.
-
En route to nowhere,
the Doctor finds Peter. Peter tells him what he's discovered, and, overly stressed, begins to charge with radiation. The Doctor takes him to a remote planet, where Peter can explode without harming anyone or anything. He does, burning away his clothing in the process, and making lots of green sand into glass. Taking a piece, and borrowing some old clothes from the Doctor, he returns to Cardiff.
-
Still not settled, Peter makes his way to Alice's hotel room, and
repeats his tale to her. After he falls asleep, Alice calls Nathan, who arrives swiftly, having been worried over his brother. Peter wakes, but refuses to tell Nathan about his memories just yet. He gives the glass shard to Alice.

Game Canon: (things that are considered true for game purposes, but may not be true for canon)
Precognitive Drawings to Date:
Elle Bishop
Sylar and the Doctor
Associations:
Nathan Petrelli - Peter's brother. Nathan is 13 years Peter's senior. Peter adores his brother with something akin to hero-worship. He cannot bring himself to doubt Nathan's word, and has perfect, unfailing trust in him.
Claude - Peter sees Claude as a recluse who won't get close to anyone. He challenges that by trying to be Claude's friend. Whether or not Claude wants a friend is up to him. He is also Peter's mentor and teacher. His 'learn-or-die' methods seem somewhat sadistic, but they are effective. He trusts Claude to do what is necessary to keep him (Peter) from harming anyone.
Alice Keyes - Peter likes Alice. She's quirky and fun, has an interesting past, and is a bit on the geek-chic level. She is smart (and pretty), and trustworthy. They have shared secrets with each other, and Peter wouldn't betray her trust for anything. She is a good friend, and he will do anything he can to help her should she need help. He has noticed she has almost a nervous twitch - her hands must always be playing with something, so he has been looking for something to give her for it. Finally gave her a Rubix Cube. He has her Emergency Retcon Plan and takes this trust very seriously.
Tobias - Peter has felt highly protective of Tobias almost from the moment they met. Tobias was in the form of a hawk at the time, and had suffered a broken wing, which healed when he changed shape to human. Intrigued by the ability, the healing, and the boy's 'mindspeak', Peter bought him pizza, then invited the boy to stay with him. Tobias accepted the offer, and Peter gave his name at the hotel as 'Tobias Petrelli', introducing the boy as his younger brother. Peter has gently been encouraging Tobias to start attending school again.
Rachel Berenson - Peter is grateful that Rachel has come to stay with him and Tobias. He hopes to get to know her better, but right now, he is mostly glad that Tobias has his friend back.
Martha Jones - Martha seems pleasant, and entertaining. Peter believes that she will not allow any of his information to leave Torchwood, so he doesn't mind completing 'tests' for her. He's pretty curious himself what kind of things he may learn about himself.
Aziraphale (Ezra) - Ezra has become a dear friend to Peter. Not only is the angel a healer, he is great to talk to, and has a trusting and comforting demeanor that Peter finds very calming.
Adric - Peter knows the Alzarian as Alice's friend, but respects his obvious brilliance. Since Sylar's attack, he's felt protective of the boy, and very guilty, holding himself responsible for letting Sylar go.
Susan - Upon first meeting the Doctor's Granddaughter, Peter got along quite well with her. However, after she defended Sylar and threatened Peter, he's stepped back from that perception a bit, now finding her far too emotional and perhaps a bit unbalanced.
Sylar - Hate, hate, hate, unbridled HATE.
Mohinder Suresh - A trusted friend and ally. Mohinder helped Peter to escape from the Company after his ten-month-long confinement.
