Biography

Remus Lupin is a young man used to keeping secrets, who tries to get by in life by being as invisible as possible. When he was six years old his father offended the werewolf Fernir Greyback. Remus doesn’t know the specifics of this as his parents refused to tell him, but it was as a form of payback that Greyback bit him, turning him into a werewolf. Remus and his father barely spoke to each other, as John, his father, blamed himself for Remus’ transformation and was unable to move past his grief long enough to be the father Remus craved. His mother, Susan, did her best to mediate between the two, but home life was strained.

Remus is quiet and notices more than he lets on, which leads people to frequently underestimate him. Being a werewolf, he is conscious of drawing attention to himself and prefers to be in the background, because he feels safer that way. When he first arrived at Hogwarts he was painfully shy, mostly because he was terrified people would learn his secret and he’d be sent away. He slowly came out of his shell during his time at school, primarily because he made good friends who were willing to accept him for who he was.

When he graduated from Hogwarts he, along with his three best friends, joined the Order of the Phoenix to help fight against Voldemort. In 1979, aged 20, Remus was fighting a Dark wizard when a spell went wrong and he ended up in the middle of London in 2007. He spent several months in London before deciding to relocate to Wales, as too many people were beginning to ask questions about the strange events that seemed to occur during each full moon.
