Trix MacMillan

Name: Goes by Beatrix "Trix" MacMillan.

Species: Human.

Age: 21.

History: Born Patricia Pullman on 13 June 1986. Life at the MacMillan-Pullman house in Lambeth was far from serene, but the addition of yet another child for a grand total of seven hardly alleviated the situation. The toddler Pat generally found herself at the bottom of the food chain and quickly learned to fend for herself. But the strain proved too much for her parents, who had never married and eventually separated when she was four. Left in the care of her mechanic father along with her brothers and sisters, little Patricia rarely saw what one might call a woman's touch. Upon beginning school, Pat found herself saddled with the deprecating nickname of Trix (for her penchant for trying to pull the wool over her teachers' eyes), which unfortunately stuck.  On those rare instances of affection in her home, she was known as Mac or Triksie.

Trix's upbringing was a patchwork of happy moments, few and far between, amidst a good deal of adversity. At some point, the strain became so intense that Trix took to her imagination for an escape, and she's since set hard to work at forgetting the events that took place at her childhood home. Her skill for forgetting herself and taking on a new identity, mind and soul, became something of a talent for her as she dropped out of school at fifteen and joined a group con. At the time, Trix didn't really think much of it, instead choosing to see it as a fine opportunity to hone her acting skills. The arrangement worked splendidly for over two years, until Trix got caught up in a confidence trick gone wrong and accidentally shot her own father, Anthony.  They'd had a difficult relationship, but she had never actually realistically entertained the thoughts of killing him.  Her friends quickly abandoned her once her face was up on wanted posters and Trix had the misfortune of being caught and tried.  Unwilling to face the consequences for her actions, she escaped during one of the court recesses.  Trix adopted her father's last name as her new identity and took on a seemingly innocuous new con -- playing the last of the Romanovs. On this venture, Trix ended up running into a certain I.M. Foreman. She later manages to slip into the policebox and stows away, curious about what opportunities time travel might afford.

To her surprise, when Trix revealed herself, she was accepted as a companion and proceeded to tag along on the Doctor's adventures. Her last adventure in the TARDIS, dealing with some Matrix or other and the Vore invasion, left the TARDIS crew feeling a little uncomfortable, causing particular tension between the new couple. No sooner than Trix submitted to a relationship of sorts with fellow companion Fitz Kreiner, she got the feeling that things needed to slow down. She eventually decided she'd like to head home to mull things over a bit--with a convenient new identity and relocated to a different part of London, but all the same. Fitz, as far as she knows, is still travelling with the Doctor (the Eighth one, to clarify).

No sooner than Trix slipped back into the groove of her regular life in the twenty-first century, something very odd happened on her way to work one morning. Cybermen marching down Westminster and Daleks soaring the skies, to be specific. Needless to say, that was a little unsettling. Trix has since kept a very close eye on activity of the supernatural variety--not as close as she'd like, as the majority of any interesting Internet files are closely guarded by something called Torchwood, but she's doing her best. To that end, Trix is making a move to Cardiff for two reasons--to possibly run into the Doctor again, as she remembers him mentioning something about it being a reasonably frequent pitstop, and see what all the ruckus seems to be about.

Game History:

-- After the Battle of Canary Wharf, Trix decides to do her best to track down the Doctor (and Fitz, by extension), after having determined that London life on her own was hardly exciting after traveling through time and space.  Spends the next few months scouring the Internet for clues.

-- Discovers that her slightly illegal activities (fixing the National Lottery, for example) have been regarded with some suspicion by the powers that be.  Her nest egg bank account has been frozen.

-- Finding that a good deal of the ... extraordinary activity comes from Cardiff, Trix packs her bags and makes the move.

-- Wanders around her new home, runs into Jake Simmonds at the grocery store.

-- Jobhunting leads her to the hospital where Peter Petrelli is working, and they stop for a chat.

-- Catches eye of the TARDIS near the Plass, Trix runs into the Ninth Doctor, who explains to her about his regenerations.  After some convincing, Trix learns that Fitz had been dropped off in London not long after she asked to be left behind.

Miscellaneous:

Not necessarily canon information, but true in-game.

-- (under construction)

Personality: Despite having had to grow up extremely fast, Trix is still somewhat childish in nature. Though she can cope on a rational level, her feelings tend to get out of control if she can't resolve a situation in a way that she likes. Given the choice, Trix will opt for a temper tantrum--and if it's gotten to a certain critical point, she'll just pack up and run away from the problem. Simply put, Trix is not the sort who wants to stick around to see the consequences of her actions.

However hypocritical it might be, Trix is extremely straightforward with everyone else. Apparently lacking anything that resembles finer feeling, Miss MacMillan will not hesitate to come forward and say what's on her mind, regardless of whatever egos she might be trampling on.

She might be the last to admit it, but Trix certainly has a superficial side. She's had an ongoing battle with her own materialism for as long as she can remember, though she will readily remind anyone who will listen that she has a rather enviable sense of style, as well.

Trix is extraordinarily uncomfortable growing close to anyone, as in the past it's only proved detrimental and occasionally even dangerous. She's the exemplary fair-weather friend, as she crafts a rapport quickly, but won't hesitate to run at the first sign of danger. Though Trix is amiable enough when things are going her way, underneath she is fully aware that she needs to look out for herself above all.

There is, however, one slight snag to her inclination to shake off anything more than a shallow attachment to anyone. Not only has she unwittingly grown to actually like the Doctor and a few of her other fellow travellers, Trix also recently made the perhaps unwise decision to fall in love. She's in a rather heady debate with herself regarding her relationship with Fitz; while she's had more than her fair share of boyfriends in her time, she's never quite succumbed to that unselfish concern for another person's well being up until now. Her indecision is largely what caused her to ask the Doctor to drop her off in London. Trix can't bear not being able to control the depth of her own feelings, and so she's doing what she does best--running away.

Trix's primary defence mechanism, for lack of a better term, is that of creating different personalities or "characters," as she calls them. It started out as a game when she was a little kid and gradually grew deeper and deeper. The extent of her immersion into these personalities is nothing short of frightening, as she has come into the habit of actually fooling herself into whatever persona she has taken on for the day. Whether for a con or for her own personal purposes, Trix quite literally becomes that person, but it's getting progressively more difficult to shake these personalities off.

Appearance: Following the nature of her former trade, Trix generally tailors her appearance to the function of quickly changing things up. Her hair is cropped short, generally kept in an "I just rolled out of bed" mess, and dyed peroxide blonde, as it's easily coloured with temporary dye on the run. She also has a growing collection of wigs that she keeps at her London flat, but Trix largely prefers her own hair.

She stands with confidence, never hesitating to meet someone's gaze with blue eyes forward and maybe one dark eyebrow quirked questioningly. Trix has almost pixyish features, though she occasionally tries to up her aggression factor by jutting out her pert little chin, with generally comic results. Her talents with makeup originated from her purely professional interest in prosthetics, but that's gradually grown into a temporary preoccupation with eyeliner and the like. As far as wardrobe goes, Trix prefers to err on the side of too much rather than too little. She has quite a fun time of mixing and matching colours and patterns. While some might argue that dressing in such a way would make her stick out like a sore thumb, Trix actually finds that sticking to her own unique brand of dressing makes her far less suspect on the street than one might suspect.

Orientation: Bisexual(?). Once immersed in a "character," as Trix so often is, pretty much anything goes.

Status: Er, taken, sort of. In love with Fitz Kreiner, at any rate, and that scares the shit out of her.

Soundtrack:  All the cool kids are doing it.

On Your Own - Blur

So take me home

Don't leave me alone

I'm not that good

But I'm not that bad

No psycho killer

Hooligan guerilla

I dream to riot

Oh, you should try it

Well, we all go happy day glow in the disco

The sound of magic music in our brains

Someone stumbles to the bathroom with the horrors

Says Lord, give me time, for I've jumped into space

I'm in outer space

Rainbows In The Dark - Tilly And The Wall

I was kidnapped real young by the sweet taste of love

Built a fondness for things that just weren't good enough

I cradled the crow, always shooed off the dove

Which tagged me a naïve son

So the fortunate kids, yeah, they left on their lights

And they stuck up their noses and started some fights

Their parents all cackled at dirt on my hands

While my father was slaving, my mother explained it

Sometimes that's just how it is

So I called up danger, my friends and some strangers

They stumbled and wavered, but caught me a saviour

They slipped me the blood in the whole of the vial

But I didn't feel them change
